Some time back in school I witnessed a hilarious moment that said a lot about the relationship between men and women/woman. It was as simple as this: one bitch was on heat, and about five dogs were tailing her in an orderly fashion, hoping to nail that bitch (feels good to use the B-word in the right context doesn't it?lol). She was just trotting down the road majestically and the other dogs had virtually lined up behind her, trotting along - moving left when she goes left, and right when she goes right. br /There and then I realised how that scenario depicted the life of any pretty girl and all the douche bags who chase after her without any self respect.LMAO! Anyway the bitch(I am loving this) stopped and then the dogs gathered around her, sniffing her and making attempts to mount. Of course alpha dog starts a fight and conquers all but one(Clearly at this point he's not the alpha dog). Some small, skinny unassuming dog managed to pull it off and tapped that thang!! Way to go for all the 'comely-less' guys who are grab the fine chicks.br /br /br /But on a more serious note that incident reiterated to me how less humans are different behaviourally from animals. The tactics are the same, the response similar, and no matter how long the girls stretch, they finally give in to whoever is able to woo them (lately 'whoever' can be either a guy or girl). br /br /Ok switch it up... Have you ever wondered what dogs might say if they could speak, with regards to male-female relationship?? I thought of a few...br /br /NB: This will not be an improper thing to say in the doggy worldbr /br /Whaddup Bitch! br /Doggone it!br /I luv the way you shake your tail bitch!br /You make me howl!br /How would you like it, doggy style or doggy style?br /br /The only thing the bitch would say is this... "You're a one minute dawg!".div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-7834162510581600648?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

So this came in late but i think the Obama frenzy is still in the air so these thoughts that have been brewed in an African pot can still be sipped..... I dunno about other countries but, has anyone here in Ghana noticed how different the weather was on Wednesday morning? It was so damn foggy! Which was unexpected to say the least. When I was in SSS,the first Saturday after freshers came in to school was very cold and foggy. I never understood that phenomenon until Obama won the elections. I have now come up with a theory: that when people share a similar feeling, are in a similar mood or perform similar activity or inactivity, the weather changes. In this case the sudden general feeling of either anxiety or excitement may have triggered the foggy weather on Wednesday and the first Saturday after freshers entry in SSS. Obama injected so much energy into the atmosphere that everyone was just waiting to break free and exploit that energy. When the moment came, so did the fog. Remember I mentioned inactivity? Have you wondered why Sundays are mostly sunny, bright and clear? This might be because a great percentage of the workforce rest and there's general inactivity in the nation(acknowledgement: Maia Hubbard)... INACTIVITY! It's a fact, that activities of living beings affect the weather so these are very valid observations................br /br /So Barrack Obama, Mr. President. The man who's gonna change America and eventually the world. He has certainly challenged the Americans to show to the world that America has really developed mentally and they stood up to that challenge. Now his first four year in office can only be filled with the change he so promised; it'll also be filled with tough decisions, hatred, predicaments, attempted assassinations(I hope not) and so on and so forth. What I hope not to happen is that his own race turn against him when he starts making those decisions that may seemingly not support the black community. What would even be worse is if the young blacks take advantage of their new black president-elect's position to act the fool. Race is not law: the law is law.........br /br /Anyway I don't mean to speak vile or cynically. I'm proud of the Americans, I'm proud of Obama - the only man who put out there enough energy to change even the weather. This is true power, where it is manifested to change the emotions of men and consequently the firmaments. Obama, you better go see your Grand mama in Kenya and all them lil cousins and nephews you got there. They prayed for you a heavens lot.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-2039616980965046983?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

Colonialism has certainly done a lot of bad to Africa. Our resources have been used to industrialize the west and further plunge their (west) dictator claws into the heart of our economic sovereignty. Africans too are at fault here. The aftermaths of independence saw a series of authoritarian leaders who instead of leading the way forward, harvested their selfish interests and allowed themselves to be manipulated by the East and West (It's amazing how much Africa played major part in the East-West cold war). That war is over now but a different, economic war still prevails this time between the North and the South. Let me explain further.....br /br /We all know that neocolonialism exists and that most african countries, if not all, are not entirely independent. We depend on our past 'masters' to make so many decisions and they practically drive the wheels of our development - which wheels are actually stuck in a superficial traffic jam. The northern countries give us aid and determine how we use it. They've even established their MNC's in the continent to make sure that they still maintain a latent rule in our economy. Now the South, which includes African countries and other developing world countries, are fighting for true independence. But what are they asking for really? That the north disrupts all aid? Impossible! If that were to happen, then Africa would be plunged into serious economic catastrophe where we might have to start all over again, first by paying off all debts and then trying to figure out how we can sustain ourselves to reach our development goals. Two things may happen here: we might retrogress or it'll take us about four centuries and more to get to where the 'developed' countries have reached- by then the U.S. president might be immortal or humans would be flying in the North. br /Here's another thought.... we can develop through aid from the 'developed' countries, hypothetically. This would've been possible if only the North had our best interest at heart. But no. They'd rather aid us to aid themselves, take money from us and give it back to us as loans with high interest rates. Technically speaking the world is not a company board. There's no succession plan and the board chairman (USA) is not looking forward to retirement or having an additional board member. The current members are competition enough for him. why would any country help the other reach an equal playing field where there's no master and servant?br /br /The only way I see outta this mess is this.. Africa is on of the major resource station of the world. Most of us have failed to see that. Nothing works these days without resources. We can make high demands, cut better deals and coerce the north to be nice to us just by threatening to withdraw our resource contribution. This will definately land a big blow on their faces. But then again if why don't we use these resource to further develop ourselves than sell it to them at such dictated, low prices. What's the worst that could happen if we raised the prices just to have enough to build a stronger economy for ourselves. br /br /I think we should stop focusing on development through aid and all that BS and start focusing on releasing ourselves from the claws of neocolonialism and the "nail-hammer syndrome" where we are the nails that are driven into the wood by the hammer(North).div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-9107790333908196147?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

Saturday was not so good a day for me. I think I had too much to drink on friday. Yes me, Steph, James and Libby went out to Champs. Karaoke was delayed a bit so the first hour there was kinda boring. But eventually the night wasn't as fun as I expected cuz Shuron wasn't there to rock the place so, what the heck. Oh yea and one little detail I shouldn't forget, my former supervisor at Ecobank was there and.... HE WAS DANCING!! AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA...LMAO!!!! Man, he looked hilarious. He looked like an anime character that had been hit with a bolt of lightening, except he had a very serious face that cracked me up!br /br /So today looks promising. I feel much better this morning I think, except my neighbours came knocking at my door at an unholy hour and what did they want? For me to do their ties for them... how annoying. Church starts at nine and I'm having second thoughts about going but I think I'll be there eventually. I always look forward to a good resting Sunday with God and "beholding the sweet faces of the beloved Saints". br /I'm applying to work with BSL and have contacted June, sent in my resume. If things go well I can only hope to do nothing but add my two cents to the organization and learn as much as I can. I read June's profile online and one word.... AMAZING!! and she's not even thirty yet. I'm looking forward to watching the documentaries she's published so far. One was with our ex-president, Mr. BOOM a.k.a. Jerry a.k.a. Johnny Johnny a.k.a. Ghana's Show Boy!!!............. so yea, I'm hoping for the best cuz I have a lot to offer. It'll be a shame if they turn me down.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-9155756653787788721?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

This semester I'm taking a course in International Political Economy. Under this we're looking at three ideologies of P.E. namely Merchantilism, Economic Liberalism and Marxism. Of course for a realist like me, merchantilism and marxism peeked my curiousity. Why? because merchantilists believe that political regulations create the framework for economic activity and marxists alternatively believe that economics affects and influences politics. In the middle of these thoughts is the liberalist idea that the market has an economic dynamic of its own. As much as the latter is true I have come to believe that politics and economics go hand in hand: there is a cycle that regulates both functions. Politics definataly regulates economic activity and, although the market has its own dynamics, economic activity creates the basis for and affects political power.br /br /Now marxists have a very good point when they rub in capitalism as the not-so-silent factor in the nexus between politics and economics. Think about it, how many times has the market prices ALONE determined government policies?... ALL THE DAMN TIME!! Bourgeoisies are those in control of both political power and the market. They are the same people that are found, together with the proletatiat, in the mist of a class struggle; an exploitation of the the latter by the former which leads to capitalist expansion. I can sum this theory in two words... "voluntary slavery". Proletariats sell their labour for a price and bourgeoisies buy that labour for less that bargained for, but exploit that labour to the fullest. The difference between the actual cost of labour and the agreed upon cost is the bourgeois's profit, hence the expansion at the cost of the majority. Politics is, to a large extent determined by this socio-economic context. In effect the main actors in International political Economy are the classes in society and the economic goal is the class (bourgeoisie) interest. br /br /br /AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-2118595787109711506?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

People who know me will say that I'm not the most patriotic citizen- I haven't bothered to register to vote, I don't care much about national issues unless it concerns me, the only time I worry about the nation is when prices take flight.... but, I am happy to be Ghanaian! Not too many people enjoy the freedom and easy life we have here in Ghana. Ghana is slow, yes it's true, but maybe that's why we have less stress to deal with as compared to say, USA (freedom with hard labour). And I become more grateful to God for my country when foreigners come here and don't wanna leave. Why? because Ghana ROCKS!! They be talking like, "OMG I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY!! There's such unity and peace and so many many wonderful places to see, and, Y"ALL ARE SUCH NICE PEOPLE!......." As rich as other countries are, they cannot afford basic simple pleasure that we freely enjoy here. So much love, tranquility, happiness, togetherness, safety (arguably).... and my favourite part is that you can download as much of anything as you want and no one gives a damn! br /Basically I think the terms developing country and HIPC together, is prolly the best thing that has happened to this country. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) used the announcement of his vice-presidential pick, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, to blast the experience of his Democratic rival, Sen. I love the fact that foreigners come to Ghana and are always eager to try out local stuff: eat local dishes at chop bars, go to the beach, shop at the markets(instead of shopping mall), and my favourite.... PICK THE DAMN TROTRO! I decided to live in the International Students Hostel for my final year and it seems like this year has brought in foreigner froom different parts of the world; America, Germany, Venezuela, Czech Republic(my roomie and his 'best' friend), Austria, Norway, Asia, Nigeria of course, South Africa and a few more I seem to have forgotten. It's fun for me to break outta my Ghanaian shell and try out stuff with them, learn from them and be their guide one way or the other. br /Two things every foreign student learns to get used to is Twi and the trotro. They are the vessels on which they sail on the high seas of their "new world". Everyone of them has a story to tell about Ghanaians and the trotro palavas and market fights and Ghanaian culture........ Scratch all that! I'm beginning to believe that one of my dogs- terry - is a sophisticated, refined english man in dog's clothing. He's the gentle type, doesn't play much, minds his own business and barks when the need arises. He thinks like a man too... Anyway so yesterday i threw out the lipton tea bag my dad used and the next moment terry moved gracefully to it, picked it without sniffing(like he was already accustomed to tea) and swallowed it. You know how in movies, a girl gets her boyfriend to come home and they're doing theur own thing and, suddenly her dad comes home so she hides her boy in the closet or under the bed? Well it happened yesterday, only, the characters were different and nobody was dating anybody.... I was working in my boss's home office when Didi called me up to let me know she was gonna pass by. I said ok, but called my boss to find out if it was ok to let a friend(yes she's a friend) into the house. Naturally he disagreed but it was too late. Minutes after Didi arrives and she first eats her food at the dining table and bla bla lalaa(during that time I called the driver to let me know as soon as boss left his office but he didn't!!)... Just seconds after she finished there was a car at the gate. You guessed right, MY BOSS! OMG what was i gonna go. Didi was startled but I kept my cool and the only thing I could think of was to hide her. Where? In THE TOILET!! She rushed in, I picked her bag from the office and she locked herself in there. Before he came in we agreed that if he found out someone else was in the house we'd lie that she was running and had to use the toilet(LMAO). Luckily he(boss) didn't spend too much time at home. After he left I asked Didi to come out and just so to be certain, she flushed the toilet(ain't she smart?...lol). Man, talk about close call! But I think he was suspicous because he asked me why the door was locked. I don't even remember locking it so I told a lie. br /br /If he ever reads this..... Boss, I'm sorry. Sunday's service was a blast! I had a great time worshiping amd praising God: Praise Sunday, nothing like it. No boring sermon(hardly), just songs and dance and praise and a general happy feeling. Been a while now. Life's just not happening at home and work. I need to get back to uni: moving to final year and am getting a single room- the room is a big deal for me cuz i need to be in absolute control over everything in my final year. No bother at all and you can control human traffic in and outta yer room.............................. br /So i seem to have backslidden from some values I hold very dear. My mind is ever steadly evolving and my character is quite consistent with it except, character wants to break free from mind's control. That's where the backsliding begins. It's like a fertilized ovary that has the sperm trying to detach itself. You can't have that happening in nature. That's freaky- yes, i'm afraid i'm getting freaky. But it's all good because the first step to redemption is knowledge: recognising that you have a fault and then working towards erasing it from your life. And believe you me, i'm on that road to redemption.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-7858766592940134391?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

What's it called again?" Yea, so we played soccer, volley, ate, drank, danced a lil, fooled around, played with the water, walked along the beach, bla bla la laaa. I was surprised to see Genevive there. Apparently her sister is married to Pst Kuma so she tagged along. Later in the evening I hanged with her. While we were walking along the shore we came across some rastafarian doing his own thing- martial arts of some sort. Looked like Tai Chi (or more like, Ras Chi). A public urinal close to a bus stop had inscribed on it:br /Public Wee Weebr /Females- 50pesewasbr /Males- 70pesewasbr /......where in the world do men pay more than women to take a piss? Is it because it's easier for men to whip out their doodles to piss, or the owner thinks men are messy when they pee? Personally i think the owner is a pervert. He must have a peep hole at the women's side to cover for the 20p difference.br /br /Anyway nuff about that.... Today's a sunday and i'm just from church. Preacher talked about evangelism and the many ways we can share the gospel. Speaking of which, i'm gonna put up another blog for sunday stuff you know, so we can share what we listen to at church and all. If you read this don't forget to check the sunday blog out and add your lessons as welldiv class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-4396034388851639879?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

My friend Kofi Quansah's father died a while ago. May his soul rest in peace. The funeral's today and i'm gonna be there. Ruth's father also died in the latter part of last semester. Before that, her room mate's father had died earlier in the year. Theophilia's brother died last semester too... Men, i think, are becoming an endangered species.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-4593594169292424976?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

I think i'm gonna add what i listen to at church to this blog. Just this past sunday preacher was talking about financial matters (No, not 'get rich quick' techniques like most charismatic churches are doing). The sermon was about spending money and acquiring assets the Godly way. You know, about how God demands tithe, deserves offering, directs expenses and protects savings. He was talking about storing treasures in heaven and giving to the Lord what is due him and then said this little joke: A man and his wife had two calves. They decided to offer one to the Lord but didn't know which one to because both were well fattened. Well then, they sleep over it till the next morning when the wife goes to the farm to check on the calves. One had died overnight. She quickly runs back to her husband and says: 'Mi wura(my husband) the Lord's calf is dead'... Secondly there was a story about greed, desiring what's more than enough for us: A chief summoned his villagers to his presence and asked them to go into his forest to pick land for themselves on condition that if they made it back to the palace before 6pm he'd grant them whatever land they picked. One surveyor after seeing how rich the land was decided to go deeper into the forest to mark a larger portion for himself. Time passed by as he strayed deeper and before he could notice, it was almost 6pm. He began to run back, bruising himself in thorns and thickets. He got to the palace doors a minute before time and collapsed in front of it. The chief came out and said, "You've picked good land but you didn't meet my condition. Alas i'll give you land anyway... Men, measure six feet for him and dig." i think we all know the morale of this story.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-6248936691710566491?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

In this part of the world music is becoming part of our daily lives. What i've noticed though is that most people are only hearing, others just follow the crowd, and when asked what kind of music they like to listen to most ppl (christians) tend to start with Gospel... Of course we know that! You practically sing gospel every sunday, you must like it!.... Anyway back to my point. Why does everyone have to listen to only hip-hop because it's the 'in thing', or lil wayne just because his songs are hot. I do agree that these artistes are really good and they put us in the party mood (i listen to em too) but, really, have we tried to veer off this road to consider other genres? Jazz, funk, rock, soul, classicals, opera? You don't always have to like the song, just appreciating it's kind is enough. I mean how many people know anything about music working magic in you, an intensely self-satisfying rhythm that raptures you into your own immortal peace. I like music, always looking to try out a new genre. Recently i've been listening to avril lavigne, indie arie, mozart, maria callas, anthony hamilton, erykah badu bob marley and some old school like doug e. Fresh, slick rick, DJ Kool,.. All these artistes are fabulous, intelligent, good musicians. I'm amazed at how much talent is out there and it's these little diversities that make the music part of my life very fulfilling. Seriously, i admire ppl who possess real passion for music and really listen. Ppl like Christiana, Eddie, Cyril, Maame Ajoa and of course yours truly. Yes i love myself.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-2055872256454359395?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

Word just in: Eddie's gotta job. Kudos brov!..... I was thinking this morning that em, i just might take up a job as a trotro mate for the first two weeks or more after i complete uni. it's something never done before by an educated Ghanaian so ppl will think it's weird that after my hard earned degree doing something like that is quite foolish. But, i've got my reasons. I'm a people person so i stand to gain a lot. if you want to understand a market, go to the grass roots.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-6402665937228097932?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

So i didn't do much today at work. Nothing to do actually. My boss is supposed to approve of a document before i can proceed with the rest of my work, he hasn't done that yet and he's blaming me for his inconveniences. How shallow..... This trotro i sat in is breaking all traffic regulations until he meets a bus full of policemen cutting into the road before him. The driver gets startled and his engine goes off, right in front of the police bus. Now he's scared and confused (the reason is obvious). Luckily for him the worst was averted. None of the men in uniform alighted to question him. He did receive a rain of insults though... Shortly after a hawker gets hit by a cycler and loses her bowl of iced water, well most of it. They both stop and look at each other expecting the other to start a quarrel; nothing. The cycler rides away and end of story.... Oh yeah and earlier on i went to see Taylor, a friend. Been a year or so since i saw him. Funny, he lives not too far from my work place. Also Azuma lost the fight against Jeff, as expected. He's not in shape at all.div class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7768057510946169193-4075628362092055580?l=kobeasiedu.blogspot.com'//div

those barbarians should be alienated by the military. how can you let a horse determine your fate? i think the military should place a dome over that township and contract suicide bombers to alienate them all. we don't need such animals in ghana.

the past weekend has been tragic. a number of deaths in three consecutive days. a few road accidents between last week and saturday inclusive, a woman is ran over by a train on sumday. then just yesterday the first bank robbery ever in Ghana (i think) at ecobank, madina. one cop was shot in the process. robbers made away with GhC60000. sad thing is, the madina police chased them with a taxi... A TAXI?!! OMG! incompetent men in uniform. i think it's time for Military rule in Ghana. the army should take over the streets and command (not enforce) law and order..... today The Professor, ZUMZUM is gonna fight Feneche after 10yrs of inactiveness. so help us God, this doesn't become the next tragedy in the week........ oh yea, of course the once almighty Tsikata's case. for a man once so powerful to be thrown into the worst jail in Ghana among common criminals. this law concerning causing financial loss is pretty whack. if it's to be implemented fully then all public servants should be jailed. am not defending Tsikata but think about it - public servants get to work at 10am, go to lunch at 11.30am and go home afterwards, then at the end of the month they get paid for working 8hrs a day. that's gross financial loss! well the NDC passed the law but seems like NPP is working it against them. POLITICS, what a 'lovely' game.
